Beetle-kill conundrum: Plenty of wood, but too pricey

SUMMIT COUNTY — As much as local builders would like to use beetle-kill wood for construction and finish work, the bottom line is that, in most cases, it’s just too expensive. “If we can mainstream the product, and it’s priced competitively we should find a home for it,” said Bighorn Material’s Don Sather, speaking Thursday morning during a discussion at a Forest Health Task Force meeting in Frisco.
