The project is in its brainstorming phase, but Friends of the Dillon Ranger District youth coordinator Dan Eberle wants to make building a Summit County youth corps a reality — and is looking for help. 

On Wednesday, when Eberle outlined the idea at the Forest Health Task Force luncheon, Forest Health Task Force guiding members Sandy Briggs and Howard Hallman raised their hands to be involved in its steering committee. 

Briggs and Hallman hope they can support the project, which would eventually create a several-week volunteer opportunity based in the field. 

Their idea is to tap into, draw together and support existing forest-oriented projects designed for youth, with the goal of creating young stewards of the forest who can take a vested interest in its next generation.  Read more in the Summit Daily coverage...
